“Lens Through a Different Light” is a haunting success from Lonely Teenage, a project formed in 2016. Lonely Teenage’s tracks on Soundcloud show a convincing stylistic vision, aesthetically somewhere between The War on Drugs’ road-friendly rock, Wild Nothing’s jangly beauty, and The Go-Betweens’ eclectic charm. The newly released “Lens Through a Different Light” is the most impressive to date. An awakening array of synths and shimmers open things up, steadily supplanted by a twangy guitar lead and reverberating vocal presence. The track captivates from there on, with gorgeous lingering guitar tones at the mid-point especially. This is definitely a project I’m looking forward to hearing more from.

“Lens Through a Different Light” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Lush, Suave/Slacker, + Jangle-Rock.
